Audi has announced plans to establish its first vehicle manufacturing plant in the United States, with a proposed investment of approximately $4 billion in Georgia.
The facility would be located at the Middle Georgia Mega Site near Perry and is expected to create approximately 4,500 jobs. Audi says the plant is being designed for annual production capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with vehicle production planned for the early 2030s.
The factory will focus on premium SUVs developed for North American customers, although Audi has not identified specific models that would be assembled there.
The announcement represents a significant expansion of Audi's manufacturing footprint and reflects the company's strategy to strengthen its position in the U.S. premium-vehicle market.
Audi Chairman Gernot Döllner says the investment is intended to establish a more competitive local production base while supporting the company's broader growth ambitions.
The automaker also points to Georgia's established automotive supplier network, workforce and transportation infrastructure as factors behind the location.
Audi says additional U.S. investment announcements could follow. At $4 billion, this is already a fairly substantial opening statement.
